So next week at the studio is a visual art week. Classes will be "painting a dance" which means come in play clothes and bare feet. Each student will use their feet as the paint brush as they study the different strokes their movement can make. Each student will have their own paint and their own wash bin.
I have gotten pretty good at an assembly line type system after doing this project a few times, but in my really young classes parents are welcome to stay and help/watch :)
For the 10yr old class in their 2 hour slot I feel like they have enjoyed this project a few times and they will benefit more from something different. They will be directing their OWN photoshoot. I'll take the pic but they are to guide the vision of everything. They choose the ballet position they'd like to try (I mentioned looking around pinterest to see some unique ways to use ballet poses in photos) and they choose their style and costume. They were told Tuesday they have the week to prepare in anyway they like if that is making a tutu from tissue paper, or drawing a huge backdrop by taping paper together or collecting props they may want to use ANYTHING they like to tell their story. The photos are just meant to be for fun and developing their visual eye of the lines of dance but I can send you any results we get :)
And the SR. class will be going to the pool for some UNDERWATER dance photography! FUN!
Let's spark their understanding of the beauty of dance!
